Why did you start Personal Training with Max?

I had been plagued with a shoulder injury for some years, which had become worse over a 6-12 month period so that I was taking daily pain relief medication and seeing a physiotherapist every week. I needed to optimize my shoulder girdle strength and flexibility to better manage my pain and protect against further determination.

What were your goals for Personal Training with Max?

  1. To build up upper body/ shoulder strength and reduce chronic shoulder pain
  2. Improve my overall fitness
  3. Gain some overall muscle tone and core strength
  4. To improve my cardio fitness, specifically running… which I was doing several times per week.

How did you feel before starting Personal Training with Max?

Tired often, I felt as though my cardiovascular fitness was reasonable, but that I had little upper body strength and nor real core strength. (I now realise that my cardiovascular fitness was average, at best!)

How do you feel now after starting Personal Training with Max (compared to before)?

I still get tired, but have more energy in general. I am very pleased with the progress I have made with my fitness… ran the Gold Coast half marathon and Bridge to Brisbane 10km run this year… and I want to improve my running a lot more!

My overall strength and muscle tone has improved dramatically and I no longer need daily pain relief for my shoulder.

My quality of life has improved substantially and I now have a taste for fitness!

What do you enjoy about Personal Training with Max?

Where do I start? Maxi is a gifted trainer and an exceptional person. He possesses the unique ability to push his clients to achieve new heights and make it all seem like fun. His knowledge of anatomy and physiology is impressive, and as such, his clients are instilled with confidence… a sense that he has a plan for them, and that they are in safe hands. He has also become a good friend. I look forward to training each week so that I can work hard, relief stress and improve my fitness all while I chat to Max!!

Had a sore knee with only a small amount of cartilage left, it had limited movement and I had been told not to run or climb stairs. Was told I would need a knee replacement within 5 years if I did not strengthen it.

Why did you start Personal Training with Mullum Fitness?

I felt that my exercise schedule was getting stale and I was looking for new energy, purpose and professional expertise and guidance. I had met Max before and knew that he was very talented, conscientious and lovely to work with, so I was keen to start!

What were your goals for Personal Training with Mullum Fitness?

Refreshing my exercise routine, in particular my running training, and adding some more strength and toning work to my training (particularly my core strength). I was also very keen to improve my personal best time for the 10km Mullum to Bruns run this year.

How did you feel before starting Personal Training with Mullum Fitness?

It had been about three years since I had had any professional input into my training and I felt quite stale in my running and a bit on auto-pilot. Also, my son had arrived during this time and so I felt much more tired and run down, and less flexible and strong than I felt before he arrived.

How do you feel now after starting Personal Training with Mullum Fitness (compared to before)?

I feel great! I am definitely much fitter and more toned. I have noticed a real difference in the way my clothes fit. I am also running faster and I have a lot more energy. I am also feeling renewed enthusiasm for running and training generally, and I feel like I am working and learning to use muscles that I have never used before.

What do you enjoy about Personal Training with Mullum Fitness?

I really enjoy Max’s enthusiasm, his great expertise and the time and thought that he obviously puts into each session. We do new things every week and so every week training is interesting and a challenge, I am never bored! Also, Max is very courteous and respectful and a great listener, a lovely person to spend time with as well as train with.

What have you gained from Personal Training with Mullum Fitness?

I am learning a lot about how to improve my running, both in terms of style and how to improve my time. I am also strengthening my core and Max has pinpointed some of my weaker areas which we are now working on and I am noticing dramatic improvements. And I have renewed enthusiasm and joy in the exercise that I do which is just fantastic.

Would you recommend Mullum Fitness to a friend? And why?

I would definitely recommend Mullum Fitness to friends, family members and anyone I meet who is keen to begin exercise or to improve their fitness. Max is a great listener and has tailor made an exercise program for me and I really do feel that he is keen to help me to reach my goals, rather than imposing goals that he thinks I should have (which I think some personal trainers have a tendency to do). I think Max would be terrific to work with for anyone at any age or fitness level and I couldn’t recommend Mullum Fitness more highly.
